BMW has added iPhone calendar integration to its cars equipped with ConnectedDrive. (Credit: BMW) Last month we looked at how 10 automakers have integrated apps into their cars. Now BMW has reminded us of the rapid pace of technology development by showing off new features for its ConnectedDrive system, along with its future direction. BMW’s newest innovation for ConnectedDrive is the integration of the iPhone calendar app. With it, drivers will be able to call up the calendar on their BMW’s center screen

The styling of the Hyundai Sonata is the second-most influential reason, after the warranty, why consumers buy the car, a J.D. Power study says. (Credit: Hyundai) Hyundai Motor was once known for humdrum styling, but the Korean automaker’s audacious Fluidic Sculpture design language has been a big part of the company’s ascent in the United States. For example, exotic surface treatment helped make styling the second-most influential reason, after the warranty, why consumers bought the Sonata, according to a J.D.

Now Volkswagen wants in, positioning its 2012 Passat to grab a chunk of the midsize sedan market. The new Passat comes out with a 2.5-liter engine, displacement that neatly fits the segment, and fuel economy in the mid-20s. Its roomy cabin fits five in comfort, and it has a long trunk.
