Ford’s 'Reduce, reuse and recycle' program includes some pretty interesting, or perhaps tasty, strategies. (Credit: Free Digital Photos) Ford today announced it is partnering with the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company to research how coconut coir, or husks, might be used as a plastic reinforcement. According to Ford, the fiber from coconut coir is being used by Scotts Miracle-Gro as a carrier for its soils and grass seed products. The fiber holds 50 percent more water than basic potting soil.

TomTom and ‘Top Gear’ team up to put Jeremy Clarkson and the Stig in your dashboard. Only one of these is a speaking role. Assets from the madly popular automotive show–including the colorful commentary of the show’s most popular presenter, Jeremy “Jezza” Clarkson–are featured in both Gran Turismo 5 and the upcoming Forza Motorsport 4 racing games for the PS3 and Xbox 360, respectively, and even in an iOS game. Today brings the news that you can now put ol’ Jezza on your dashboard with the announcement of the TomTom Go Live Top Gear Edition, the first “Top Gear”-themed GPS device…in the world.

Microsoft's Wireless Speed Wheel will be available in late October. As a car guy and a bit of a racing sim snob, I initially viewed this wireless, motion sensitive plastic bauble down the bridge of my upturned nose.
