To look up an event location on Facebook, Ford wants drivers to ask Sync for directions–and put down the phone. Ford engineers are testing how drivers can use the Sync AppLink system to tap into Facebook with voice commands. The automaker says social integration is the next evolution for its voice-controlled Sync system, and accessing Facebook events is just one example already being developed. How Facebook could integrate with Ford Sync In a demonstration for CNET, SyncApp Link Product Manager Julius Marchwicki had Sync announce upcoming Facebook events, his RSVP status, and the venue locations. The next steps, he said, would be to get directions to the event, call the event host, find out how many friends are attending, and even let the driver check in to a venue when he or she arrives.

(Credit: Ferrari) Remember last week, when I casually stated that there was no way that Ferrari’s new V-12 halo car would be more powerful than the 720-horsepower 599XX? Well, I was wrong. The new model’s 6.3-liter V-12 spins with the fury of 740 galloping equines. You may also remember that the rumors pointed to the new model being called the “F620 GT.” Well that was wrong too, because what Ferrari pulled the wraps off of on its website this morning has been dubbed the F12berlinetta. That’s right, the 2013 Ferrari F12berlinetta with no space and a lowercase ‘b’–someone at Ferrari must really hate copy editors.

The investment arm of the semiconductor giant announced today that it’s creating a $100 million venture capital fund dedicated to investing in automotive technology. According to Gartner forecasts, automobiles will be among the top three fastest-growing market segments for connected devices and Internet content by 2014, cites Staci Palmer, general manager of Intel’s Automotive Solutions Division. That presents a new market for the technology company, and as the connected car wave rises, Intel wants to be there to ride it.
